Mostly XC with some technical mountain stuff thrown in. I was looking to upgrade my 4 twelvemonth old Marin, but could not afford to go full XC Race (wanted to stay effectually 1000.00). This bike does fit the bill. The drivetrain components are great, and I took several upgrades from the Marin (stuff purchased over the final four years) and put them on the DB. The first was the Handlebars (raceFace atlas riser) then the pedals (saints) the only upgrade I purchased was a set of avid BB7'southward. The geometry of this bicycle was "unlike" then my old bike. Felt more similar I was "IN" the bike instead of "ON" the bike. A corking experience actually. Nearly of the trails I seem to choice have some decent climbs and it is a nifty platform for that (as whatsoever hardtail with a front lockout is) but what is a real comeback to me is the downhill and straights and curves, being IN the bike, helps with the handling. No bug shifting notwithstanding besides. overall a corking bike, I went from a cannondale jeykll 26" total susp to this and couldn't be more pleased. 29" wheels good for obstacles, good shocks, sturdy.
heavy, hard stock saddle, stiff shifting levers.
The frame is solid, wish the rear was a thru beam instead of QR for added stiffness through higher G-force turns.
This is a nifty wheel for anyone who wants to seriously look into MTB'ing or who needs a solid commuter bicycle (add together a set slick tires and a luggage rack on back and you're proficient to go.)
If you have the $$$ and are REALLY serious about MTB, I'd jump for the "Comp" model, yous get a 2x10 Deore bulldoze railroad train, Rock Shox XC30 Fork, hydraulic disk brakes, and a 1.v" tapered headtube for added force/control.

It is a good bones bike. Double wall rims and reasonable prepare up for entry level with room to abound.
Cypher special at all. The geometry isn't really up to modern specs. Too steep for comfy treatment. Otherwise it is a passable bicycle.

Very strong frame, much like the Response series of frames. Very easy "curl over everything" blazon of feel for a hardtail. Existence a 29r bike will attain that well plenty for you. Good beginners spec canvass. Enough to hit the local beginner to intermediate XC loops with.
